Release Notes 22.06
This document describes announcements and discontinuations in the scope of ix.Cloud services.
Announcements
This section describes changes to existing features as well as introductions of new functions and services that are included in this release.
Resource Groups
With this release, the "Resource Groups" feature has been activated. All details can be found in the news entry.
Revision of the Resource Detail View
The detail view pages for the resources "Virtual Machine", "DB Instance \ MSSQL" and "DB Instance \ MySQL" have been redesigned using tabs to group related information and optimize the loading behavior of the detail view pages. Further details can be found in the news entry.
These changes affect only the UI of ix.Cloud. No changes have been made to the API in this regard.
New Main Menu Item "System Management"
The menu item "System Management" has been introduced in the main menu of the portal (see news entry).
Report "Approved Patches"
Through the newly introduced "Approved Patches" report, you can find out in advance which patches will be installed on which patch wave in the next patch week. Further details can be found in the news entry.
Obligation to Cooperate - System Hard Disk
The customer is co-responsible for ensuring that the system hard disk of a VM does not run full, for example because application data and/or application logs are written to it. For this reason, the section Plus Services has been supplemented with the following text:
The customer ensures that the system hard disk is not filled by application data and/or application logs. Otherwise, Inventx cannot guarantee smooth operation of the guest OS.
Application data and application logs must be stored on a dedicated hard disk reserved for applications.
Provider Maintenance Window - Minor Changes
In the Service Catalog, in the Provider Maintenance Window section, the time for Minor Change has been adjusted from 18:00 - 22:00 to 19:00 - 23:00.
This adjustment has no impact on service availability, as it is merely a correction of a definition discrepancy in the Service Catalog. Previous Minor Changes have always been performed according to the adjusted definition (19:00 - 23:00).
Enhancements to Software Deployment
To increase efficiency and improve usability in software deployment via the portal, several optimizations and enhancements have been introduced in this area (see news entry for details).
Discontinuations
This section lists functions and services that are being removed from the scope of services with this release.
MSSQL Server on Virtual Machine
In compliance with the 6-month notice period, the "MSSQL Server on Virtual Machine" service is being discontinued as of Release 22.06.
All instances of this service already ordered can continue to be operated without restrictions.
As an alternative, the Managed xSQL Instance service can be used.
API Endpoints ix.compute/plusService
The following endpoints will be removed with Release 22.06:
POST https://api.ixcloud.ch/resources/ix.compute/v1/subscriptions/\{subscriptionId\}/virtualMachines/\{name\}/emergencyMaintenanceWindows DELETE https://api.ixcloud.ch/resources/ix.compute/v1/subscriptions/\{subscriptionId\}/virtualMachines/\{name\}/emergencyMaintenanceWindows GET https://api.ixcloud.ch/resources/ix.compute/v1/subscriptions/\{subscriptionId\}/virtualMachines/\{name\}/emergencyMaintenanceWindows DELETE https://api.ixcloud.ch/resources/ix.compute/v1/subscriptions/\{subscriptionId\}/virtualMachines/\{name\}/emergencyMaintenanceWindows/\{key\} GET https://api.ixcloud.ch/resources/ix.compute/v1/subscriptions/\{subscriptionId\}/plusServices/logs/patching GET https://api.ixcloud.ch/resources/ix.compute/v1/subscriptions/\{subscriptionId\}/plusServices/reports/patching GET https://api.ixcloud.ch/resources/ix.compute/v1/subscriptions/\{subscriptionId\}/plusServices/reports/antivirus GET https://api.ixcloud.ch/resources/ix.compute/v2/subscriptions/\{subscriptionId\}/virtualMachines/\{name\}/plusService
Replacement API endpoints are now available. Further details on this discontinuation can be found in the news entry.
HighClock Hardware Profiles in SLA Silver
Due to lack of demand for HighClock hardware profiles in the SLA Silver variant, this service will be discontinued with Release 22.09 in compliance with the 6-month notice period. HighClock hardware profiles in variants other than SLA Silver are not affected.
Please note that new orders for this service are no longer possible as of now.
V1 API Endpoints for Software Packages
The following API endpoints have been replaced by a v2 version and will be discontinued as of Release 22.09:
- /resources/ix.addon/v1/subscriptions/{subscriptionId}/softwarePackages
- /resources/ix.addon/v1/subscriptions/{subscriptionId}/softwarePackages/{packageId}
Further details can be found in the news entry.
Windows Server 2012R2
On October 10, 2023, the operating system "Windows Server 2012R2" reaches End-of-Life (see manufacturer link). On this date, Inventx will also discontinue support for all add-ons and thus also for the "Managed OS" add-on on Windows Server 2012R2.
All Managed DB Instances based on the Windows Server 2012R2 operating system must be migrated by the customer to a newer, supported version.
