Release Outlook R26.03: Edge Networking Public DNS
Announcement (R26.02): With release R25.03, we are improving protection for our customers by introducing the Internet perimeter ix.Cloud Edge.
As the first service in ix.Cloud Edge, we are launching a sovereign Public DNS service.
The new service will be productively available from the end of March.
Technical Core Points
- Primary DNS: Going forward, a hidden primary will reduce the attack surface.
- Zone Information Distribution: Will now be handled via an Anycast network to increase fault tolerance and reduce latency.
- GeoLoad-Balancing: With the introduction of ix.Cloud Edge, we will be able to delegate requests to Internet endpoints between locations. This includes not only ix.Cloud locations but also public cloud providers.
- Enhanced Security Features: With the new Public DNS service, the use of DNSSEC and the deployment of RPC lists is simplified.
Added Value & Compliance
- Security: Audit-proof auditing and access according to the four-eyes principle.
- Regulatory: Compliance with data protection and financial market regulations (revDSG / FINMA) through localized data storage.
- Resilience: Elimination of single points of failure through distributed infrastructure.
Discontinuations
Windows Server 2016 end-of-life
On January 12, 2027, the Windows Server 2016 operating system reaches end of life (EOL) (see vendor link). From that point on, Inventx will discontinue support for all add-ons and thus also for the Managed OS add-on on this operating system.
After the EOL date, Windows Server 2016 will no longer receive security updates or bug fixes. Systems that continue to run on this version face increased security and compliance risks.
We therefore recommend migrating affected systems to a supported Windows Server version in a timely manner.
