Release Notes 22.09

This document describes announcements and discontinuations in the scope of ix.Cloud services.

Announcements

This section describes changes to existing functionalities as well as introductions of new features and services that were introduced in the scope of this release.

Metrics Monitoring

For individualized monitoring of servers and applications in ix.Cloud, the "Metrics Monitoring" addon and the evaluation tool "Grafana" have been introduced.

RedHat Enterprise Linux 9

RedHat Enterprise Linux 9 has been introduced as an Inventx Owned OS. For further details, see news entry.

With the introduction of RedHat Enterprise Linux 9, RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 will be removed from the scope of ix.Cloud services (see discontinuation).

AlmaLinux 9

AlmaLinux 9 has been introduced as an Inventx Owned OS. For further details, see news entry.

caution

With the introduction of AlmaLinux 9, CentOS 7 will be removed from the scope of ix.Cloud services (see discontinuation).

Revision of the "Agile Factory" Service Description

The service description of Agile Factory has been completely revised to provide a better overview of the included services (see news entry).

Renaming of DevOps Services to Container Services

The main menu item "DevOps Services" has been renamed to Container Services (see news entry).

Managed MSSQL-Instance PKI Integrated

Managed MSSQL-Instances currently use a self-signed certificate issued by the SQL Server for communication encryption.

To meet the requirements of modern applications, the self-signed certificates will be replaced with a Trusted CA Signed certificate.

The migration will be planned and implemented individually per instance. Inventx will contact the system owners personally in the coming weeks and work out all details.

Personalized Columns in Resource Tables

Columns in resource tables can now be personalized. A detailed description can be found in the news entry.

MSSQL Advanced Function TDE

In the Service Catalog on the Database Services page in the Managed xSQL-Instance chapter, incorrect information has been corrected (for details see news entry).

Discontinuations

This section lists features and services that will be removed from the scope of ix.Cloud services with this release.

RedHat Enterprise Linux 7

With the introduction of RedHat Enterprise Linux 9 (see announcement), RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 will be removed from the scope of ix.Cloud services. Therefore, the RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 operating system can no longer be used for new VM orders.

All VMs that were ordered with RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 in the past can continue to be operated without restriction until the manufacturer's end-of-life date.

CentOS 7

With the introduction of AlmaLinux 9 (see announcement), CentOS 7 will be removed from the scope of ix.Cloud services. Therefore, the CentOS 7 operating system can no longer be used for new VM orders.

All VMs that were ordered with CentOS 7 in the past can continue to be operated without restriction until the manufacturer's end-of-life date.

HighClock Hardware Profiles in SLA Silver

Due to lack of demand for HighClock Hardware Profiles in the SLA Silver variant, this service will be discontinued with Release 22.09, observing the 6-month termination period. HighClock Hardware Profiles in variants other than SLA Silver are not affected. Further information can be found in the news entry.

Please note that new orders for this service are no longer possible as of now.

V1 API Endpoints for Software Packages

The following API endpoints have been replaced by a v2 version and will be discontinued as of Release 22.09:

  • /resources/ix.addon/v1/subscriptions/{subscriptionId}/softwarePackages
  • /resources/ix.addon/v1/subscriptions/{subscriptionId}/softwarePackages/{packageId}

Windows Server 2012R2

On October 10, 2023, the "Windows Server 2012R2" operating system will reach end-of-life (see manufacturer link). On that date, Inventx will also discontinue support for all addons and thus also for the "Managed-OS" addon on the Windows Server 2012R2 operating system.

All Managed DB-Instances based on Windows Server 2012R2 operating system must be migrated by the customer to a newer version.
