With the introduction of "Microsoft SQL Server 2022" technology, "Microsoft SQL Server 2017" is being removed from the scope of ix.Cloud services and can no longer be ordered effective immediately (see Discontinuation).
Database Services in Service Level Rhodium
All Database Services can now also be ordered in the Rhodium service level (see news entry).
Discontinuations
This section lists features and services that are being removed from the scope of ix.Cloud services with this release.
Windows Server 2012R2
The operating system "Windows Server 2012R2" reaches End-of-Life on October 10, 2023 (see manufacturer link). On this date, Inventx will also end support for all add-ons and thus also for the "Managed-OS" add-on on the Windows Server 2012R2 operating system.
All Managed DB instances based on the Windows Server 2012R2 operating system must be migrated by the customer to a newer version.
Microsoft SQL Server 2017
The technology "Microsoft SQL Server 2017" can no longer be ordered for the Managed xSQL-Instance service, effective immediately (see news entry).
Existing resources based on the "Microsoft SQL Server 2017" technology will continue to operate without restriction until the product reaches EoL.
Service Level Offering Optimization
As already presented at the Community Meetup in May and November 2022, the following services will be discontinued by the end of June 2023 or with release 23.06:
| Service Level | Location | No Longer Orderable in Portal | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum | Georedundant (St. Gallen / Chur) | Effective immediately | The Platinum service level is being replaced by the Rhodium service level. |
| Gold | Chur | Upon activation of Gold Gais | See Announcement: Service Level Offering Optimization |
| Silver | Chur | Effective immediately | New orders are only available in St. Gallen and Gais. |
| Bronze | Gais | Upon activation of Bronze Chur | See Announcement: Service Level Offering Optimization |
Existing resources operating on the discontinued service levels will be migrated by Inventx according to the following list and in accordance with existing service management processes.
- Platinum resources will be converted to Rhodium resources.
- Gold and Silver resources in Chur will be moved to Gais.
- Bronze resources in Gais will be moved to Chur.
Resource migration will be performed without interruption to the extent possible. If seamless migration is not possible, Inventx will contact the resource owner and jointly plan the migration.
Redundancies will not be affected and will be aligned with the corresponding service levels including backup location.
Management and changes to existing VMs at the Chur location will be maintained throughout the entire migration phase.
