Release Notes 25.01
This document describes announcements and discontinuations in the scope of services of ix.Cloud.
Announcements
This section describes changes to existing features as well as introductions of new functions and services that are included in this release.
Windows Server 2025
Starting March 1, 2025, Windows Server 2025 can be used as an operating system when ordering virtual machines (VMs) via the ix.Cloud Portal.
The benefits of Windows Server 2025 are:
- Security improvements: Further development of security features to provide protection against the latest threats and ensure data integrity.
- Performance improvements: Optimizations in system performance and efficiency, enabling faster response times and improved resource management.
- Cloud integration: Enhanced integration with cloud services to make hybrid and full cloud environments easier to implement and manage.
- Management tools: Advanced management tools for more effective monitoring and management of large networks and virtual machines.
- Support for new technologies: Support for current technologies and standards, including virtualization, containerization, and latest hardware.
With the introduction of Windows Server 2025, as of March 1, 2025, the operating system Windows Server 2019 will be removed from the scope of services of ix.Cloud.
Container Namespace
When creating a namespace in Self-Service, we validate the name against a policy. This prevents the assignment of redundant names and prevents the use of system terms such as "openshift".
This implementation results in a breaking change in the API if automated IaC processes are already in use that access the affected filter. This could unexpectedly affect existing integrations and workflows.
Discontinuations
This section lists functions and services that are being removed from the scope of services with this release.
For discontinuations, migration support by Inventx can be provided via Change Request.
Windows Server 2019
With the introduction of Windows Server 2025 on March 1, 2025, Windows Server 2019 will be removed from the scope of services of ix.Cloud.
As a result, Windows Server 2019 can no longer be used as an operating system when ordering VMs via the ix.Cloud Portal.
Windows Server 2016
On January 12, 2027, the operating system Windows Server 2016 reaches end of life (EOL) (see manufacturer link). On this date, Inventx will also discontinue support for all add-ons and thus also for the Managed OS add-on on this operating system.
