This document describes announcements and discontinuations in the scope of ix.Cloud services.

Announcements​

This section describes changes to existing features as well as introductions of new functions and services that have been implemented as part of this release.

ix.Managed OS Patch-Cycle Speed Up > Addon System Update​

With the introduction of the new System Update addon starting May 1, 2025, the old patching wave concept will be replaced by the end of July 2025.

In the old concept, System Owners could define the currency of OS updates but not the specific time, and Wave 3 updates were already two months old. This led to delays in addressing open security vulnerabilities of up to three months.

The new feature enables more effective and efficient updates:

  • On the Wednesday following Patch Tuesday (the second Tuesday of the month), all released system updates will be made available.
  • To enable application owners to verify the functionality of their environments, they can now choose from three different weeks.
  • This significantly accelerates the closing of open vulnerabilities, with a maximum interval of 26 days after the system update is released.

EDR for AlmaLinux 8/9​

New features for AlmaLinux 8/9: The EDR addon now also supports AlmaLinux systems.

Enforced EDR on new systems: In subscriptions where EDR is already enforced, all newly added AlmaLinux systems automatically receive EDR protection. Automated onboarding: Changes in the portal on these subscriptions result in enforced EDR onboarding being performed on the affected AlmaLinux systems (must be done via GUI or API).

Container Services Agile Factory (Rancher and Openshift Products)​

All PRD Rancher instances have been updated to Kubernetes v1.30.

All DEV/TST environments have had the CNI migrated from Openshift to OvnKubernetes. The cgroup has been upgraded to version 2.

Discontinuations​

This section lists features and services that are being removed from the scope of services with this release.
